1. Shaquille O’Neal has allegedly been involved for years in an affair with Laura Govan, who is engaged to fellow NBA star Gilbert Arenas. Shaq has been involved in rumors of infidelity in the past, but nothing like this. Govan is the mother of Arenas’ children, and a friend of Shaq’s wife. These aren’t your typical rumors either. TheYBF.com has copies of emails sent back-and-forth between Shaq and Govan, a.k.a. “Lonnie G.” And you thought things couldn’t get any crazier than yesterday’s Dwight Howard-Mary Carey rumor…
2. Frank Deford gives perspective on Tim Donaghy’s recent allegations of referee tampering. The article is ten times more insightful than rumors about Shaq, and concludes with an interesting question. Is Donaghy the Jose Canseco of the NBA?
3. Stephen Curry writes arguably the most insightful, well-spoken blog posts of any player in the League. And he writes them for GQ. Groundbreaking. I can’t remember the last time I saw a professional athlete writing for GQ. Props to Mr. Curry.
4. Latavious Williams, one of the top-rated high school forwards in the nation, is forgoing college to play in the NBA’s Development League. He is the first player to jump straight from high school to the D-League, a move that Dan Shanoff believes is a positive step for both high school players and the NBA.
5. DeJuan Blair was very close to becoming a Cleveland Cavalier on draft night, according to a report from ESPN.com’s Chris Broussard. But Houston ended up topping Cleveland’s trade offer to Denver for the 34th pick, and Blair fell to the Spurs instead. It’s funny how careers are determined like that. In the blink of an eye.

As far as the Shaq rumors about Gil’s girl, the source needs to be considered.

Besides, wouldn’t Gil know FOR SURE if Shaq was running up in his woman? I mean, Gil is a tiny man….Shaq is a HUGE man…. Without getting into laws of physics and vaginal elasticity, do you understand where I’m going with this….?
