Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee is reporting that the wrist injury Kevin Martin suffered Wednesday is a hairline fracture.

Kevin Martin has a hairline fracture in his left wrist #nbakings

For Kings fans, this is an all too familiar punch to the gut. Martin has missed a significant amount of the previous two seasons due to injury. In 2007-08 he missed 17 games with a groin injury. And last season he missed 15 games with an ankle injury. It’s become a frustrating pattern.

Before the fracture, Martin was averaging 30.6 points per game, making him the third highest scorer in the NBA. No word yet on how much time he’ll miss.

Update: The Kings official Web site has confirmed the report. It is a hairline fracture to the navicular bone.

Update #2: This from Jason Jones, again via Twitter: “Martin can opt for surgery or a cast and miss about two months or play with a broken wrist. He’ll decide soon.”

Surgery and out for two months or playing with pain? Who can guess what Kevin Martin will choose? See you in 2010 K-Mart.
