1. Hot rumor: Dwight Howard has a thing for porn star, and onetime gubernatorial candidate, Mary Carey. The report, which comes courtesy of Carey, is unconfirmed and unsubstantiated, but supposedly Howard and Carey had a late night run-in at N’Sync member Chris Fitzpatrick’s house. I’ll reserve judgment until we hear Dwight’s side of the story, but this is an interesting development to say the least.
2. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird trade barbs on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. Great moment in late night T.V. history.
3. Jalen Rose doesn’t think Kevin Martin is All-Star material, but that didn’t stop an Indonesian traveling team from showing their support. Martin donated $15,000 to the team during a trip to Indonesia this summer. They responded by lobbying for his All-Star candidacy on the back of their jerseys. Take that, Jalen!
4. Bill Simmons’ The Book of Basketball: The NBA According to The Sports Guy
is currently the top-selling basketball book on Amazon.com, followed closely by When the Game Was Ours,
by Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Wonder how Simmons feels about out-selling his idol.
5. I missed this last week, but it deserves mention. The Lakers’ championship rings are super cool. It pains me to say that, but it’s true. If the Kings ever win a championship - I know, it’s a really big if - I want them to get rings just like them.

Did you say the Kings were going to win a Championship some day? Maybe it is time for me to stop rooting for the Detroit Lions and move over to the Kings.
