Bill Walton Retires From Broadcasting, Celebration Ensues

With all due respect to Bill Walton, an NBA and college basketball legend, his retirement is worthy of a celebration. In fact, it’s a victory for NBA fans across the country. Walton’s grating, uninformed rants plagued many an NBA telecast. He was insufferable in my opinion, and survived in the broadcasting world only on the strength of his terrific NBA career.
Walton’s scatter-brained approach to analysis was annoying, and on more than one occasion he had no idea what he was talking about.
Also, he created Luke Walton. (Just saying.)
I’m sorry he is in pain, and I wish him all the best in his pursuit of community service, but I’m glad Walton will not be returning to the broadcast booth.
Like I said, it’s time to celebrate.

Bye Bill. Don’t let the Grateful Dead hit on your ass on the way out!

pecrawly’s comments speak volumes about his ignorance of the NBA and broadcasting/entertainments. Walton’s impassioned, polarizing comments were about the only reason people watched some of those one-sided games. I guess Stephen A.’s often-offensive comments (”the guy is garbage”) are okay because “he’s one of us” — I’m just sayin’. Grow a thicker skin — and learn something about the game. Geeze.
