LeBron and Celtics.

1. Ratings were up across the board for TNT’s opening day doubleheader. Overall, the doubleheader earned a rating of 2.8, up 40 percent from last season. Not surprisingly the biggest ratings came from Cleveland, where the Cavs-Celtics game drew a 20.0; proving that, yes, LeBron T.V. can be very popular.

2. Is Ron Artest a true social activist or just an attention-starved hype mongerer with too much time on his hands? Here’s his latest music video: “Afghan Women.” I’ll let you decide for yourself.

3. Caron Butler claims to have suffered withdrawals so bad he couldn’t leave bed when he quit drinking Mountain Dew this summer. Such was his addiction to “the Dew” that he called the experience “the roughest two weeks of my life.” Evidently, he doesn’t remember the first round of the 2008 Eastern Conference playoffs.

4. Phil Jackson gets stiffed by Kobe Bryant on a pound attempt during pregame warm-ups. Don’t worry, Phil. It happens to the best of us. Even Zen masters get left hanging sometimes.

5. I’m about 95.5 percent sure this is a joke, but J.J. Redick is working on a rap album. With Leather has more explanation and video. Like I said, I think this is a total hoax. If it is true, though, I predict Redick will fall somewhere between Asher Roth and John Brown on the white rapper continuum.

I think the Cleveland Cavaliers rock big time. With the addition of Shaq, I feel a championship is in their future!
