1. Ron Artest is ringing in the season with a new ‘cut dedicated to the Lakers. Artest is known for his wacky hair styles, but this one goes above and beyond. If you think the back of his head is crazy, check out the sides at Ball Don’t Lie. The Lakers play the Clippers tonight in the second half of TNT’s doubleheader.
2. Terrible news for the Clippers, and for fans around the League actually: Blake Griffin will be out for six weeks with a stress fracture to his left kneecap. Griffin won’t need surgery, but will undergo a treatment called platelet rich plasma, according to the Los Angeles Times.
3. Wonder what it’d be like to have lunch with Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson on the eve of the NBA season? Lang Whitaker lived that dream earlier this week. His notes are a must read.
4. Does Mike Dunleavy have a legitimate shot at Coach of the Year this season? Basketbawful debates the merits.
5. Aaron A. McNeill ranks the top 25 players in the League. Dwight Howard’s a bit low for my liking, and Tony Parker is a bit high. Otherwise, I like the list.

I look forward to a kick A$$ year from the Blazers. With a healthy Oden and a more experienced Roy I think the Blazers will challenge the Lakers for the Western Conference.
