Video: Jay-Z Discusses Arena, Possibility of Brooklyn Nets
Watching Jay-Z on Letterman is like watching the first 2/3 of the Frost-Nixon interview. We don’t get the energetic, charismatic Hova on Letterman. We get the coy, deadpan Hova. But when Letterman brings up the Nets’ move to Brooklyn, Jay’s eyes light up. You can tell he’s excited.
According to the world famous rapper and minority Nets owner, ground will be broken on the new arena in Brooklyn in December. He expects construction to take a year; to which Letterman says, “Good luck.”
Jay-Z also touched on his friend LeBron James.
Of James, Jay says New Jersey has the talent to help James win, but, first and foremost, he wants his friend to be in the right situation to win a championship. If that means LeBron signs with the Nets, great. If not, that’s okay too.
At the end of the interview, Letterman asks Jay about the addition of Shaq to the Cavs.
Hov responds with a scoff, adding later that Shaq will help the Cavs, but the East is a tough conference. He insinuates that the Cavaliers are still one piece away. I can’t say I disagree.
H/T to Hooped Up for the video.
