The career of Knicks center Eddy Curry just hit a new low.

On Monday, Curry’s former driver, David Kuchinsky, filed a sexual harassment suit against the weight-challenged center, alleging that Curry exposed himself to Kuchinsky, used demeaning slurs against him and made him perform humiliating tasks (such as throwing out towels that Curry had used to pleasure himself).

Kuchinsky, who previously spent three years in prison in New Jersey for burglary, alleges that Curry repeatedly approached him in the nude and urged Kuchinsky to “come and touch it.” Curry is married with three kids. Kuchinsky also claims that Curry harangued him with racial slurs, calling Kuchinsky “cracker”, “white devil” and “grandmaster of the KKK”.

The allegations against Curry are embarrassing. After all, he’s a husband and a father of three. But Curry’s public humiliation is nothing compared to what Kuchinsky endured if the charges are true. Can you imagine having your boss expose himself to you on a regular basis, all the while taunting you with racial epithets? Can you imagine cleaning up his “special use” towels, having a gun pulled on you when you resisted?

Yeah, that’s right. Curry likes to mix a little Jayson Williams into his employee relations. Kuchinsky claims Curry pulled a loaded gun on him on two separate occasions.

As for motivation, who knows?

Perhaps Curry simply needed a whipping boy. Maybe the frustration of multiple up-and-down seasons in New York, inconsistent performances on the court and a burgeoning weight problem were too much for Curry. Some people kick the dog. Curry kicked the driver/”house-boy” instead.

Or maybe Curry truly does have repressed homosexual desires; desires masked by vilification and hatred (a la Col. Frank Fitts in American Beauty). If so, awkward…

These are, of course, only charges - and charges alone do not prove guilt or innocence in America - but the fact that they’ve been filed in the first place is disconcerting. For Curry. For Curry’s family. For New York. For the NBA community as a whole. 

It’s a strange story that promises to only get stranger with time.
