October 16, 2008 - Change in Dallas
Wow, I'm 5-1 in the Deli League? Man, I should take a snapshot of the leaderboard just in case things go south and I need something to pick me up later in the season. Don't worry though. I have some pickups at three different positions on my mind that are going to make good things happen for you and me.
Without further ado, your pickups for Week 7:
1.
Shake Up in Dallas
Ok, big news in Big D. The Cowboys have acquired WR Roy Williams. Pacman Jones is suspended. Felix Jones is nursing his hamstring. And Tony Romo has a broken pinkie (though it looks like he'll play now, despite the injury). Lots of news. Lots of potential. If Romo does in fact sit out, there is room for Brad Johnson to be a hero on Sunday.
Johnson, the presumed starter at QB, is 40 years old. But, and it's a huge BUT, he's playing against a St. Louis defense that is allowing over 400 yards per game. And Johnson has T.O. AND Roy Williams -- not to mention Jason Witten, Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin -- in his corner.
Johnson hasn't averaged over 200 yards passing in a game since 2003, his 10th year in the league. But if Romo fails to make the start, Johnson is your best pickup option at QB.
2.
Missing Addai? Pick up Rhodes
If you're looking for a RB this week, why not take a look at Indy?
Joseph Addai will miss 2-4 weeks with a torn hamstring. In his place, you should expect nice numbers from Dominic Rhodes. Last week the Colts rode Rhodes for 73 yards on 25 carries and a TD. Things shouldn't change against Green Bay. The Cheese Heads are allowing over 150 rushing yards per game.
In the short term, Rhodes is your best pickup at RB. But be sure to have someone else ready to go in three weeks time.
3. Injury Report From Tampa Bay
Joey Galloway is listed as questionable this week. But he is close to returning from a foot injury that has kept him out since Week 2.
Jeff Garcia threw for 173 yards last week and a touchdown. But what piques my interest is his 117.3 passer rating. The Bucs are facing a Seattle team this week that has allowed over 350 total yards per game. So if Galloway is ready to play, look for him to be a decent third WR option for you this week.
With at least 1,000 yards receiving in the last three seasons, Galloway will be a nice pickup looking down the road. Not only does Tampa Bay play Seattle this week, they also have Kansas City coming up. That makes two horrible defenses before the Bucs' bye week.
Alright, like the presidential candidates, I just hope I didn't walk away from this with any egg on my face. Speaking of eggs, I think I might go make a little egg salad sandwich. Mmmm, that'll be nice and satisfying.
I hope this article has left you satisfied. And if you're hungry again next week, come on by for more.
Good luck. We'll see you here next week.
